Musings of a Dumb Ass

One of the great things about putting your thoughts down in a way that others can see what's on your mind at their leisure is that it's 'there', and once said you really can't take it back.
The interesting thing is to attempt to place a value in what you say. Now that becomes a study in futility, because there is no scale to measure such a thing with.
Thoughts that are spoken or written have fascinated me for a very long time. Not so much my own, but others. Not always the thoughts of the famous, but those close to me too. The common thread that ties thought process of all people famous or not, is that it never totally makes sense. From a distance or in retrospect thoughts always reveal not only the strengths and weaknesses of the person, but also morality and honesty.
Nothing much matters about what someone is thinking unless they're respected, or powerful.... What the person who puts hamburgers in a sack at McDonald's thinks is seldom relevant or important, and almost never remembered, meanwhile what his/her boss thinks may change their life dramatically and unexpectedly.
Our entire world is predatory. Not a kind or considerate way to exist, but that's the way it works.
It's odd that we all have an idea how a better and more perfect world should work, but it never happens. As those that give us hope come over the horizon we're ready to embrace them in pursuit of a better way, but we never seem to have success in pursuit of better or perfect. If it appears we are, one has only to think about it to figure out what's really going to happen. Thoughts coupled with history will point to mistakes that produced misery, usually repeated in some fashion again and again, which can make you judgemental very quickly about those who are headed blindly to certain failure and disaster. That's a little scary.
Maybe that thinking stuff ain't good. It makes me crazy sometimes............

Musings of a Dumb Ass

Today the new President signed legislation saying my tax dollars will be used to fund international organizations who provide abortions and information about them.
Anyone who reads Musings more than once knows there is a very wide gulf between me and God, so this post has nothing to do with supreme beings, nor the ones who do or do not believe.
Instead this post has to do with common decency, civility, value and respect for humanity, responsibility, and even simple math.
If we cannot value new life, how can we truly appreciate it at any other stage? Just because new life might inconvenience or embarrass us, how can we possibly do away with it and just act like it was a temporary situation that the world is better off not ever seeing and presume that no loss has happened due to acheivement on the part of the one who was killed? Yes, killed. That is the proper and clinical description of the results of an abortion. And the decision to end that persons life wasn't after a trial or revue of any authority, but was left to someone who really hasn't experienced life in a positive way, too often a young woman in her very early teens, and without the knowledge and consent of her parents nor the father of the doomed baby.
Many American's have opinions of illegal aliens that are narrow in content and only show their near complete ignorance. Because while the arrogance of ignorance is pouring from them they would never stop to consider that few Americans desire to do the jobs the illegals do, and certainly not for the pay they do them for, and will instead in many cases, wait on their welfare checks to be placed in the mail box ( welfare is disguised in many forms, but is still welfare).
One of the more interesting points to ponder is to consider what impact far more than 50 million abortions since 1973 might have had on the economic situation in our land. If those untold millions had been allowed to live, would there have been a job available to an illegal alien? How about the economic picture.... would it be the same? How about invention, the arts, medicine? Did some young woman opt to kill the baby that would have found the cure for cancer?
For the ones who send me e-mails on the address posted on this blog, don't bother disagreeing with me. You are more tortured than I and there is no peace to be had for you.......... Less than 96 hours on the job and already B.O. has shown bad judgement.......

Musings of A Dumb Ass

Today is an historical day for this country and a perfect time for dummies like me to say what they think is going to happen.
It's a time of great hope after a ride with what must be the worst president this country's ever seen, and one that I voted for...... once. We're in a time that political party means absolutely zilch to everyone except the ignorant because in reality they're both about alike. We shouldn't forget that it took both parties to bring us to our present predicament, but we will and do forget.... very quickly.
I think it's possible we might have a resurgence of what seems to be recovery simply because we still have enough assets and power to over extend ourselves even more, and if possible, will. But the problem is, the new President has no formula to right a dreadful situation in a meaningful way. His answer in the end is to print more money and spend our way out, which is self destructive.
It take's balls that haven't been grown yet to deal with our dilemna, and there's no sign of anyone possessing these, because to do that, the word NO has to be used to just about everybody. That means everyone who gets a government check in any form, and those who derive their income from any government funded entity, which is just about everybody. Since we still vote for those who give us all, there is no chance we'll be denied. Instead we'll just die a slow, painful, and embarrassing death as a nation.
From my treebranch, this is what we'll likely see starting in the coming year then getting worse. A stagnant economy with increased unemployment and Inflation, Inflation, and Hyper-inflation giving us $5.00 gasoline within two years, maybe within the first year. Whatever assets those who are retired think they have will dwindle and perhaps disappear completely, and those in power will be impotent in changing it.
It's just a nasty damn prospect. So what am I going to do about it? Nothing. Because there just isn't much I CAN do about it. Instead, I'm going to try to appreciate each day I'm given and march on to the ovens with everybody else but do so in a jovial manner, and of course, look good doing it.............

Musings of A Dumb Ass

Are all things in our world and universe meant to be? Are all things good and bad planned?A dedication to and the concept of God would suggest so. If this be true, it is a frightening and brutal power excersized with no consideration to right and wrong. Just yesterday, a stones throw away from me, two little girls ages three and five burned up in their home while screaming for their Mother who was helpless and impotent just outside the inferno.
I have an unorthodox and bad opinion of God. I guess I've always looked at the world different than most, and I can't help it. It just seems to me that to create a world where all living things exist at the expense and sacrifice of something else living, at best suggests a warped kind of thinking and leaves no room for anything that resembles love. Dying is painful. I'll probably be better tomorrow......... if there is a tomorrow.

Musings of a Dumb Ass

So, what is it about people that stirs up hatred so much that they fight on even in the face of certain defeat even to death with strangers they've never seen before? I've always believed all situations in life have absolute answers. But I also think in many cases death may occur without answers realized.
The human condition has equipped us to be very complicated yet incredibly simple. We can go lifetimes inventing reasons to explain away everything without ever exploring the obvious and usually never admitting to the real truth. We like to figure out a way to belittle those in disagreement with us and paint them in ways that sidestep reality, whether the issue is personal or local or global. As long as we can blame it on something else we don't have to ever set things straight and be honest...... like the mess Israel has going on with the Gaza Strip again.
In The U.S. of A. if you question anything Israel does you are a hate monger or at least anti-semetic. Logic or reality has no place at the table where these assholes are concerned. But surely, sooner or later one must consider why do the Palestinians hate these people ( Israeli Jews) so much they would continue on fighting such a hopeless struggle against such hopeless odds?
We explained away terrorism that took down the towers as done by those who hate freedom. Now c'mon, let's get real and quit being stupid. Freedom had nothing to do with that attack. Our response was directed using the same limp thinking as was used on our journey that brought us to that disaster.
Israel's problems are dealt with on that same mental level.
As long as the Palestinians can look through the fences at the homes and lands that was theirs for thousands of years only to be taken away because powers oceans away said that was the way it would be, there will be hatred and conflict. As long as a Palestinian's survival is hinged on the whims of a brutal landlord such as Israel is there will be conflict. As long as a Palestinians supply of food and water is controlled by the likes of Israel there will be conflict. As long as jobs and physical movement is controlled by Israel, there will be conflict. As long as we say Israel has the right to defend itself against those who now are displaced by them, the oppressed will hate and fight. As long as we supply the money and arms for Israel to act as they do we can expect terrorism in our streets.
We've lied and been lied to for so long we've lost the truth and have no objectivity in the matter. As a Christian Nation we can write it off as the way The Bible says it has to be, but the Palestinians and about 80% of the world doesn't see it that way. Oddly enough, neither do the Jews. They think Christ was a crock and the real Messiah has never shown up, but is still coming. The first five books of the Old Testament makes up the Jewish Bible we know as the Talmud. It is very explicit in that is says plainly that no one but A Jew can go to heaven. The New Testament was written by outlawed and misplaced Jews and Gentiles for all of us who aren't Jewish. That makes us even stranger. Or maybe complicated, or possibly, very simple. Or at least simple minded. This mess will never be settled as long as we have the power. The simple solution is for our power to be crippled or taken away. That's where terrorism comes in. No ballyhoo, just fact. And we don't get along with facts very well. A true blessing would be for us to wake up, look around, and Think...................
