Musings of a Dumb Ass
Things that make my thought process numb.........
How we've circumvented responsibility and changed the definition of it....
Our Government has altered our thinking so totally we no longer have the power of logical thinking we once had. For instance, insurance. When I was young, if you had an accident and was uninsured, if the person you hurt or had loss or damage of property filed for court action, a lawsuit would present you with all sorts of penalties and tie up your pay and assets for a very long time up till forever plus a very real possibility of going to jail.
After lobbying became the norm and criterion for doing business in the state legislature, it became the law that all automobiles have liability insurance. I know we've been propaganded for so many years that virtually everyone agrees this is the way to go. But no one noticed the stream of attornies and Doctors who came into their own through this, and also the costs of services in any insurance funded activity whether it is property replacement or injuries, have went through the ceiling and are completely ridiculous and out of controll.
On television the airwaves are clogged with advertisements for drugs the pharmacuetical manufacturers want you to ask your Doctor for, then followed by advertisements from Lawyers offering to sue the manufacturers if you've been prescribed certain drugs.
No one ever asks how much anything costs in health care because no one actually believes they're paying for it. You're paying for it all right, you're just mostly to ignorant to realize it.
Most who retire on Social Security truly believe they've payed for it, but in reality you become an eager participant in one of the most hopeless pyramid schemes ever devised by reasonable people. When you look at Medicare/Medicaid anyone with brains should realize such a plan as that will not only bring social security tumbling down, but will decimate the country in a few more years, all with us believing we deserve such services.
If we had real figures compiled in a way the average person could truly understand, I think we'd find more than 80% of our population recieve either a stipend or service value far in excess of what they've paid for in whatever time they spent in the workforce in a normal lifetime. Sadly no one would look at it in such a way, but it would be true.
End result? Nothing will change except government will grow, and benefits and services will expand even while those who stole their way to richness continue on unchallanged and politicians will keep on being what they are.
Runaway inflation by Christmas '09......followed by more unemployed.... Mark your calenders
