Musings of a Dumb Ass

Musings of a Dumb Ass... After 9-11 my little town displayed the same silliness that most of the country showed in trying to make everyone feel safe against 'the terrorists'. We really couldn't identify just exactly who that was, then or now. We somehow managed to create a deadly adversary literally without a face or a name. El-Ahab or al-qaida never did quite do it for me, and still doesn't. All we've actually accomplished is to establish what apparently is going to be a perpetual uncertainty about our security and make life a lot more complicated for the average American, and so expensive we may not be able to continue being us, notwithstanding unable to conduct life because of this governments attempt to be everything to everybody and in the process being what will cause us to fade away as the greatest power that ever was and the ONLY place to be from on the planet. No politician ever passes up the chance to scare the daylights out of the public no matter what it's about, but just hang around and what ever was important will change tomorrow, except for the claws of young oppression in a continuing trek to oblivion. Case in point; When 9-11 occured my little town became so paranoid they hired an overweight doofus to sit across the street and guard the water company against someone from one of those countries 'who hated us because we love freedom'. Of course after about two years or so doofus disappeared. likewise a big deal was made over at the capitol ( I live six miles from our State Capitol ) and all of a sudden local guards who were born here and knew scores of those working in the Capitol were suddenly demanding the proper I.D. from those they went to school with and next door neighbors. That has gone away also. In the aftermath I quit going to State Government buildings I used to frequent because I liked to hang around where 'things happen' . It was offensive to me to stand in front of someone I knew and be insulted. Yesterday, it bcame necessary for me to go to the State Capitol on business, and guess what.... there was no security in any form, the doors were ALL wide open, and I am overjoyed that we beat them damn terrorists at their game. But when did that happen? When was the decision made to open all the doors at The Capitol? Isn't it dangerous anymore? Where are all the crazies locked up at? When did the threat disappear? I'm confused and still love freedom. Don't we need to protect ourselves? Where's the guards? We can't be allowed to just walk around anywhere we want. Can we?..............
